Field Trip to ISKCON Temple and Parle Factory
08/07/2010

On 8th July a field trip to Iskcon Temple and Parle factory was arranged. Students of class VIII along with their class teachers set out with excitement and anticipation. The Iskcon Temple is noted for its architecture and students understood the sanctity of the temple and maintained the decorum of the place. They understood the importance of chanting mantras and with great devotion repeated the mantras. The main Deity of the temple is Lord Krishna. The statues and paintings were awe inspiring. The students’ then window shopped which enables them to understand the availability of things, their quality and price.

They received the prasasd and we moved on to the Parle factory which was in a beautiful setting amidst plush lawns. It was an ideal place to have lunch; students relished the food that was served. At first we were escorted to an auditorium were they showed a PowerPoint presentation relating to the establishment and growth of the factory. We then went around the factory where they manufactured biscuits and chocolates. The raw materials were mixed, cut, baked, oil sprayed, Cooled and then packed, sealed and sent to the market. The process was interesting to watch. It made us realize the significant role played by machines in the life of human beings. As we took leave each child was given a packet of Parle G biscuits and a few chocolates.

The purpose of a field trip is to relieve the students from the monotony of classroom teaching and again the picnic should be informative. Worksheets based on the temple and Parle factory was given to the students’. Students collected information and filled the worksheet. In this manner the field trip that was indeed a terrific idea!
