Children must know the background of the freedom struggle, life history of our freedom fighters & how many have sacrificed their lives for the country. The students from other countries like USA, Australia, UK, Moscow, Nepal and other NRI’s are very keen to know about Indian history. These National Festivals help us to instill in the students, respect & love for the Nation.

At JIRS these celebrations are a combination of a formal parade in the morning with flag hoisting done by dignitaries from Army / Air Force. The events held were March Past, speech by students on freedom fighters etc. Patriotic songs sung by our school choir. In the evening an Inter House Competition was organised. The programmes conducted were Patriotic Dance, Role Plays etc.

JIRS celebrated the country’s 63^rd Independence Day on 15^th August 2009 with a lot of patriotism and love for the country. The March Past was held which was inspected by the Chief Guest, Group Captain P A Nair. The March Past was judged and the houses were given the points for the best March Past. All the students put in their best efforts to win points for their houses. After the parade, the school choir performed patriotic songs and kept the spirit of patriotism flying high. The speech in Hindi by Master Vikrant was an inspiring one to all.

In the evening, there was an Inter House Patriotic Dance Competition, in which the students danced to the tunes of songs dedicated to the country. The competition was judged by the PRO, Mrs. Saroj, Dr. Sunitha and Mrs Simran. The school band rocked the crowd with a few English songs.

The day was not only fun, but also reminded us about our country’s historical battle for freedom.
