Education in Ireland
Ms Wendy D’Souza, India Advisor, on education in Ireland visited Jain international Residential School on 10 July. Ms D’Souza spoke about the programmes and career prospects available to students. The main theme was world class institutions, friendly and welcoming environment and excellent quality of education. The children had lot
of queries and took part in this interaction extensively.
New epoch of Student Custodians
Jain International Residential School recently held the much anticipated Investiture ceremony on 5 July 2014. The guest of honor for the occasion was Wg Cdr S S Pethkar, an Airforce flying pilot and commanding officer No. 1 KAR NCC. He was present as the
investiture ceremony parade marched in its full grandeur.
The chief guest inspected the immaculate parade and carried out the oath taking ceremony. The new student council members swore to uphold the school’s reputation with integrity and honor. The guest of honor in his speech emphasized on leadership and discipline that paved the way for success. The memorable day drew to a close but the hearts and minds of the student council members opened up new vistas for them as this day marked the beginning of a
new chapter in their lives.
JIRS has started a special life skill department in line with its vision of transforming potentialities into realties. This department ensures that the students have the opportunity to showcase their talent and hones them enabling higher level of self-confidence and excellence in communication. The life skill department had organized the ‘6th Annual Product Launch’ programme for grade 11th of CBSE on Thursday 12 June. Five teams from each division of grade 11 participated in the programme. The programme was hosted by Sneh Sawani and Muffadal. All teams came up with innovative products along with various marketing strategies and tried to launch their product in the market. The innovative products included pesticide / accident preventing device for vehicles, oxygen releasing mat, container with alarm for drugs and an aid for blind people to move with confidence. All teams had prepared extensive PowerPoint presentations on their product and
had tried to cover all the area of their business.
The students dodged the questions directed at their respective teams by the judges with promptness, displaying their presence of mind. The strong and sincere effort taken by each team in the preparation was evident throughout the programme. The programme gave a good boost to the
confidence level of all the children.
Team grade 11th A was selected as the best team. Monisha P C was selected as best speaker among girls and best speaker award
for boys was shared by Yashwanth and Sarthak.
World Environment Day
On behalf of world environment day on June 5th 2014. In JIRS Mrs. Roopa Karumbaiah conducted special assembly for the students to bring awareness about our environment and to re-affirm our pledge to protect the mother earth, making our planet cleaner & greener students promised to utilize our natural resources for the present and the same time ensure happiness of our future generations by taking oath to ensure that even the smallest step that they take an our daily lives will be an
effort towards conserving nature resource
Ushering New Beginnings
CEO of JIRS Wing Commander Ganesh Sharma ushered in the new academic year 2014-15 by delivering the opening note of the orientation programme.
The students were briefed about the school rules and regulations, school schedule for the new academic year and the achievements of the ex-students of grade 10 and 12. The CEO assured the students that this year many activities would be organized to enhance the special skills of all students. He said that these life skill activities would enable the student to become more a more confident and fluent in public speaking and would also benefit
the overall development.
JASE organized some light games and sports as recreational activity for junior students. The children were enthusiastic and actively engaged in different games that encouraged the spirit of team play.
Junior School Assembly
This year JIRS is introducing assembly for the junior section (grade 4 to 9) as a
part of the school curriculum. The assembly sessions will serve as a platform for all the students to boost their confidence and to overcome stage fear. The teachers as MOD’s (Master / Mistress on duty) are given charge of conducting assembly effectively.
The MOD’s prepare their mentees to participate in different programmes like thought for the day, news reading and special items like short plays or facts on different subjects etc in the assembly.
Embracing cultural richness
Batch of 60 students of class 4 to 7 visited Janapada Loka in Channapatna on 30 May along with 9 staff members. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip that was packed with a video presentation depicting various folk dances of India and a brief on ancient agricultural practices and common tools and equipment’s of the bygone era used by villagers in ancient times. They also enjoyed the rendition of a popular folk song by the care taker of the place. The children were fascinated by the art of poetry and the artifacts of clay and wood. On the whole the trip helped children get a better
understanding of the folk and other cultural histories of Karnataka.
Workshop on First-Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS)
On 28 May 2014 Dr. Shabeer, Head of Department of Emergency Medicine
at the BGS Global Hospitals, Bangalore, visited global campus for a training workshop for children and staff of the JIRS on First Aid and BLS- Basic Life Support. The workshop that was conducted in Sprintoor was attended by all the students of the school .Dr. Shabeer kept the children spell bound with his lively description of first aid techniques in various eventualities. He not only told them when and how to perform first aid, he also emphasized when not to perform certain ‘Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation’. It was a very interesting and interactive session. Children particularly enjoyed the hands on training explained with the help of mannequins and learnt the lifesaving technique that can be used for a person suffering from cardiac arrest.
It was a vibrant session with quizzes and questions to the students. Students were very enthusiastic with their answers and asked many questions too. Dr. Shabeer cleared all their doubts. The informative workshop left the students more well prepared to deal with situations of crisis and would certainly be more well equipped to save lives and help those in need.
The junior sections of IGCSE course were taken on a trip to the best amusement part in the state, ‘Wonderla’ as part of the monthly school outing recently. The outing was an opportunity for students to refresh their minds, relieve their stress and to enjoy themselves thoroughly.
The students spent a very exciting day at the amusement park.
AITA Tennis Tournament - Under 16

Every child has a beautiful mine of latent potentials within them. We just have to provide a platform and
motivate this talent and enhance it to great levels. JIRS encourages all children to awaken their potentials and to bring their vibrant talent to the fore. The sprintoor was lit up with beautiful performances by all the children right from the junior section students from class 4 to students from class 12. The three hour programme was a scintillating visual treat and was a pleasant surprise for all the mentors and teachers. The talent show was a huge success with plethora of fabulous musical and dance performances. The children took this opportunity and used it as a platform to showcase their multifaceted talents.
Students of JIRS appeared in art and music examination conducted by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigargh University. Out of 21 students that appeared for the art exam 17 secured distinction and 4
secured 1st Division. In the music examination out of 45 students that took part, 34 secured distinction, 10 secured 1st Division and 1 student secured 2nd Division.
A grand departure
JIRS is bidding adieu to its 2012-2014 batch of class XII. The Graduation Day will be held on 15 February 2014. DR. V Prakash will be the chief guest for the day.
