JIRS Students Celebrate Teachers’ Day with ‘Chalk and Cheers’ Role-Reversal Initiative

Bengaluru, 5 September 2025: The CAS Department at JAIN International Residential School (JIRS) organised Chalk and Cheers, an innovative and spirited Teachers’ Day celebration. As part of the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programme, students of IBDP Year 1 took on the unique challenge of becoming teachers for a day, creating an enriching experience for both themselves and their juniors.

The event encouraged IBDP-1 students to design lesson plans, apply interactive teaching methods, and conduct engaging sessions for younger classes. With remarkable enthusiasm, the student-teachers transformed classrooms into spaces filled with creativity and collaboration. Juniors, in turn, responded with equal excitement, appreciating the fresh perspectives and lively approaches to learning.

The initiative not only celebrated the invaluable role of teachers but also provided students with first-hand insights into the profession's responsibilities. The experience enabled them to sharpen essential life skills, including communication, leadership, planning, and problem-solving. Furthermore, it nurtured empathy, patience, and confidence-qualities that extend well beyond the academic sphere.

Reflecting on the event, a spokesperson for the CAS Department remarked:  “Chalk and Cheers was much more than a celebratory activity; it was an exercise in perspective-taking and self-discovery. Watching our students step confidently into the role of teachers highlighted their creativity, adaptability, and potential as future leaders.”

The programme concluded on a cheerful note, with classrooms alive with energy, laughter, and learning beyond textbooks. By bridging the gap between students and teachers, Chalk and Cheers successfully reinforced the values of respect, collaboration, and appreciation within the school community.
