JAIN International Residential School Showcases Innovation and Social Responsibility Through ‘Economics Lenses’ and ‘The CAS Nexus’

Bengaluru, 28 February 2025: JAIN International Residential School (JIRS) hosted two dynamic events, Economics Lenses: A Perspective on the Economy and The CAS Nexus, on 28 February 2025 at the Shraddha Block. Organised alongside the Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM), these initiatives underscored the school’s dedication to experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community impact.

The Economics Lenses exhibition, led by Grade 9 students of the international curriculum under the Department of Economics and Commerce, offered parents an immersive journey through key economic concepts. Stalls explored themes such as money, commercial and central banking, trade unions, and recruitment. Engaging elements included quizzes, interactive games, and a functional model of an ATM created by students. Themed counters such as Money Matters, Pawns and Kings, Vault Visionaries, and Monetary Masters further enriched the experience, highlighting students’ creativity and practical understanding of economics.

Concurrently, the CAS Nexus, an initiative by IBDP Year 1 students, combined entrepreneurial skills with a social purpose. Students set up a stall selling handcrafted candles to raise funds for charitable causes, managing all aspects of accounting, inventory, and record-keeping. This hands-on project not only generated contributions for the community but also honed the students’ organisational and financial management skills.

Commenting on the occasion, a faculty coordinator said, “These events embody the JIRS philosophy of learning through doing. Our students demonstrated remarkable initiative, creativity, and compassion, reflecting the values we strive to instil every day.”

Both events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and staff, reaffirming JIRS’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded, socially conscious learners. Plans are already underway for future editions to further expand interdisciplinary learning and community engagement.
